Michael graduated cum laude from the University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the university's College of Arts and Sciences. He also has a minor in Management of People & Teams from the Kania School of Management, an AACSB accredited school.
While at the university, Michael was inducted into the school's freshman honor society, Alpha Lambda Delta, and was named to the school's dean's list and National Dean's List.
As part of the prestigious Dow Jones Newspaper Fund Internship program, Michael attended a 10-day residency at the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State University).
The residency involved many aspects of journalism with a special emphasis on copy editing. While there, Michael attended numerous journalism seminars on topics such as Associated Press style, word usage, clarity and ethics.
Michael graduated from Central Columbia High School as one of the first students at the school to graduate a semester early.
During his time at Central Columbia, Michael completed numerous independent studies, including several in television production, Web design and journalism. Michael also took three years of honors English.
While in high school, Michael was actively involved in the Future Business Leaders of America, the nation's largest and most prestigious business club for high school students. While in FBLA, Michael became the school's second member to attend the organization's national competition - competing twice in Web design and development. Michael also worked as the district webmaster and was employed part-time at Press Enterprise Inc.
